The latest AI-driven artwork by Sophia comes after learning from the art pieces of London-based digital artist Andrea Bonaceto. This is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a human and robot for digital artwork NFT.
The NFT market is booming and humanoid robot Sophia is the latest to join the NFT bandwagon. In the latest development, Sophia has created an NFT crypto artwork powered by AI and a neural network.
Hanson Robotics along with iv gallery made the official announcement that they would be launching a series of NFTs made by Sophia. The NFT auction will happen on Gemini‘s Nifty Gateway platform next week on March 23. Also, the latest artworks by Sophia have been in collaboration with digital artist Andrea Bonaceto. Thus, this makes it the first-ever unique collaboration between robots and humans.
With the latest collaboration with the artist, Sophia deeply studied his work and further reproduced her own compositions. The output images created by Sophia have very similar characteristics to the neural network-generated artwork. In the official press release, roboticist Dr. David Hanson said:
“Sophia created the art entirely using neural networks and symbolic AI, responding to her perception of Andrea Bonaceto’s works, as well as to data from her ‘life’ experiences, under guidance from the Sophia team’s designers and programmers. How she responded to Andrea’s art simply thrills me. I’m one proud father.”
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have gained massive popularity recently especially in the digital artwork marketplace. Last week, popular digital artist Beeple sold his NFT for a massive $69 million auctioned at the 250-year-old auction house Christie’s.
Just like DeFi, the non-fungible tokens marketplace has exploded massively this year in 2021. The trading volume for NFTs this year has already crossed multi-million dollars.
NFT by Sophia: Robots Starting to Grasp Crypto Framework
The latest project is Sophia is a classic example of the new synergies developing between the crypto world and robots. Besides it also showcases the growth of artificial intelligence-driven artwork. London-based Bonaceto, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts told Decrypt:
“The experience has been amazing. I have learned so much during this period just by observing Sophia’s creative process in action. The artworks we created are representative of the overall creative process, from beginning to end. It’s incredible to see how Sophia responded to my artworks. Together with David and Sophia, we are moving towards the new paradigm where robots and humans participate together in the creative process.”
Sophia’s proximity with the crypto world was already developed back in 2019. Two years back, the humanoid robot said that it was aware of cryptocurrencies, however, wasn’t using them.
