Wacken World Wide is the biggest virtual Metal Festival of our planet. Get ready for dozens of great shows and a stunning virtual stage.
It’s barely halfway through to 2020 and suffice to say, it has not been a good year for many of us. Amid economic slowdown concerns, joblessness, health lockdowns and demonstrations, people from all over the world have had to suddenly deal with a whole new reality of staying at home, whilst fighting for their livelihoods, health and relationships amid worrying trends in the economy and society.
But the human spirit is as resilient as it is eager to continue the pursuit of happiness, and nothing says more about our resilience than the multitude of online events organized throughout the year. Many in solidarity with our brethren across the world, promoting common cause and celebrating the sacrifices people have made in the COVID-19 efforts.
A Familiar Metal Event Goes Virtual
When Wacken Open Air, one of the most worshipped alternative concerts in Europe, was faced with the decision to cancel the annual event which draws tens of thousands of fans from all over the world, it was faced with making a difficult choice: protect society by canceling the massive event or carry on but expose thousands to risk of infection by the ongoing pandemic?
Thankfully, the era of digital entertainment and high internet bandwidths meant that they could still proceed – thus was born the idea of Wacken World Wide, where the concert would still carry on remotely, and beamed to every corner of the world for free.
Obviously, that would still cost a lot of money, and metal artists and bands still needed to get paid, so the decision by crypto gaming pioneer Bitcasino to be a headline sponsor of the digital music festival Wacken World Wide couldn’t have come at a better moment.
Thanks to Bitcasino’s sponsorship, the music of Alice Cooper, Blind Guardian, Heaven Shall Burn and scores more of other metal gods and goddesses, can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their location, for free.
Tom Küppers, Marketing Manager at Wacken World Wide, said that the event from July 29th to August 1st, would be the first virtual undertaking but that the event has worked very hard to deliver the same quality and performance values, thanking Bitcasino for making this undertaking possible. He noted:
“…we can’t wait to welcome metal fans to Wacken World Wide.”
Bitcasino Director of Casino Tauri Tiitsaar said the decision was an easy one, after seeing the impressive passion of Wacken in innovating in times of crisis, and was equally keen to participate in “the thrill, intensity and passion that metal brings.”
Bitcasino itself is no stranger to virtual concerts, with the hugely successful D3 Dance Concert organized back in May with the Giving Block to raise funds in support of COVID-19 relief and recovery efforts.
Last year alone, there were six million streams from the performances of Wacken, so this year, with every performer gathered together in one huge virtual rock out, Wacken World Wide and Bitcasino expects to entertain millions more.
