Borussia Dortmund (BVB) is a heavyweight football club in the sports fraternity, and they are known for having one of the most active supporters, boasting of the 7th largest fan base in the world. This deal is a huge breakthrough with the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology finding its way into the sports industry to win more audience.
The CEO of Bybit Ben Zhou spoke to reporters revealing that the company seeks to take advantage of the popularity and the characteristics of Borussia Dortmund as they intend to expand its global reach and branding. This agreement will see the Bybit logo and slogan displayed on the BVB’s websites and social media platforms as well as their stadium in live matches. According to reports, the logo and slogan of Bybit will also make its way into its first-ever match for the club as Borussia Dortmund takes on the most successful football club in Germany, Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Whether by coincidence or by decision, Bybit has a lot in common with Borussia Dortmund. They both have corporate colors of black and yellow, and also place more attention on improving their fundamentals. Both Bybit and BVB value talents and go the extra mile to put up structures in the form of supportive fields to give people a chance to rise and shine. Borussia Dortmund has currently established itself as the first football club in Germany at that level to successfully negotiate a partnership deal with any company that works within the cryptocurrency sector. It is expected that more of this will be seen.
Previous Crypto and Football Deals aside Bybit and Borussia
The current Bybit relationship with a football club is not the first of its kind. SS Lazio, an Italian football club and a competitor of the UEFA Champions League announced its partnership with a cryptocurrency trading platform called StormGain. The deal with StormGain involved ensuring an effective engagement with the club fans by organizing giveaways in their home matches.
Moving to the United Kingdom, an English Premier League club, West Ham United also announced a partnership deal with Socios.com to help in launching its fan token ecosystem.
Barcelona FC, one of the biggest football clubs in the world also showed their interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology by announcing a deal with Chiliz, a blockchain-based startup to launch a token called Bar fan token which is currently being used on Socios, its social mobile app.
Paris Saint Germain, the French football giant, also partnered with Socios.com to launch a “fan token offering” for the club. These are good news to the cryptocurrency and the blockchain community looking at its difficult journey in the last few years. The recent development is an indication that the cryptocurrency industry will beyond doubt continue to make progress in the coming years.
